Gerrit Boeser (1786-1848) married 2 sisters

Painter Daniel Boeser (1757-1812) and his wife Sijchie Paardekooper (1769-1836) had their second son, Gerrit, baptised on 28 May 1786 in Beverwijk in Holland. The couple had a total of 11 children, but some of them died young. In addition to an older brother Wouter Boeser (1785-1859), Gerrit also had younger brothers named Jan Martinus Boeser (1796-1851), Johannes Boeser (1799-1872) and Hendrik Daniel Boeser (1801-1842). Around 1792 the family had moved from Beverwijk to Rotterdam.

Gerrit was the first of his siblings to marry. He married Pieternella Brand in Rotterdam on 13 August 1809. Pieternella was baptised on 6 October 1782 in Kralingen (now part of Rotterdam). Her parents are Heiltje Vrooman (1748-1815) and Arij Brand (1747-1814). Two elder siblings had also been named Pieternella, but they had died young.
Pieternella Brand gave birth to a daughter Sophia Cornelia who was baptised on 1 October 1809 in Haarlem. In 1811 and 1814 in Rotterdam they had sons who both died young. Pieternella died on 25 may 1816 in Rotterdam, aged 33.

Pieternella Brand, wife of Gerrit Boeser, died on 26-5-1816 in Rotterdam

Gerrit Boeser then married Pieternella's elder sister Dirkje Brand on 13 August 1817 in Rotterdam. Dirkje was baptised on 25 January 1778 in Kralingen. She had first married Machiel Jurriens who had died at the age of 34 on 8 November 1811. They had a daughter Heijltje, born on 3 July and baptised on 18 August 1805 in Rotterdam with witness Heijltje Vrooman, the maternal grandmother. Dirkje was 39 years old at the time of her second marriage, and she had no further issue.

Gerrit's daughter Sophia Cornelia was married on 9 November 1836 in Rotterdam to blue-eyed Christiaan Gerardus van der Leck (1807-1878), widower of Anna Barbara Clement. After 5 pregnancies Sophia Cornelia had 2 surviving children: Gerrit (1837-1913) and Pieteronella (1843-1909) van der Leck.
Dirkje's daughter Heijltje was married on 13 June 1838 in Rotterdam to Willem Eichman (1811-1903) who originated in Leiden. Their eldest child was Josina Cornelia Eichman (1839-1879).

Dirkje Brand died on 12 June 1844 in Rotterdam, aged 66. Four years later, her widower Gerrit Boeser died there, at the age of 62, on 19 August 1848.
Gerrit's daughter Sophia Cornelia Boeser died there on 2 March 1869 at the age of 59. His stepdaughter Heiltje Jurriens died in Rotterdam on 7 November 1886, aged 81.

The Goossens Family in Venlo and their Belgian wives

My late father-in-law owned a collection of personal record cards containing spaces for the genealogical information of a person, his parents and spouse. The children can be added at the back of the card. I received custody of this genealogy cards box. A lot of those cards are filled in with persons with the surname Goossens.

Marguerita Maria Louise Leonie Wilhelmine (“Margot”) Goossens (1912-1989), my father-in-law’s mother, belonged to a notable family in Venlo in the Southeast of The Netherlands. Margot’s father August Emile Alphons Marie Hubert Goossens (1882-1956) and her grandfather August Theodoor Hubert Goossens (1838-1911) were merchants of colonial goods.
The elder August was described as “a calm, reasonable man, for whom one must hold the highest esteem”. He was married around 1867 to Marie Louise Eugenie Hubertine Lumaije (1848-1907). Her father Félix François Lumaije (also: Lumay) was born around 1819 in Spy near Namur in Belgium. I’m very happy with the info on my father-in-law's personal record cards for my French is nearly non-existent.
Félix is a son of farmer Louis Joseph Ghislain Lumaije (1784-1835) and a grandson of Jean François Lumaije (1742-1810) who originated in Bois-de-Villers near Namur.

The calm and reasonable elder August Goossens is a son of Mathieu Ferdinand Goossens (1791-1869) who married Maria Elisabeth Francisca (“Elisabeth”) de Borman (1792-1866). Her sister Maria Anna Alexandrina ("Anna") de Borman (1793-1877) had married Petrus Jacobus (“Pierre”) Goossens (1790-1876), the elder brother of Mathieu Ferdinand. Pierre and Anna had 8 children including Eugene Nicolaas Hubert Goossens (1827-1903). Eugene was born in Bree in Belgium and married Catherine Victorine Honoré (1838-1866) who originated in Liège. Their son is Charles Joseph Victor Marie Goossens (1862-1915) who died on 14 December 1915 in Arcachon, Gironde, France.

Short-lived Marriage ~ Kornelia Baars (1809-1876) in Oud-Beijerland

Kornelia Baars was born on 20 April 1809 in Oud-Beijerland in Holland. Her parents are Arij Baars (1764-1846) and his second wife Adriana Kraak (±1783-1816). Arij's had been a widower of Neeltje Kraak (1766-±1805), Adriana's cousin. Arij Baars had 15 children with his 2 wives.

On 7 April 1831 in Oud-Beijerland 21-year-old Kornelia Baars was married. The groom was Albertus Pieter Camphuis, born on 21 January 1808 in Charlois (now part of Rotterdam). His parents are Feiko Albertus Camphuis, who originated in Appingedam near Groningen, and his wife Neeltje Moudt.
Kornelia Baars gave birth to her first child, Adriana Neeltje Camphuis, on 6 October 1831 in Oud-Beijerland. In the next two years Feike Albertus and Neeltje Kornelia were born, but the last died on 13 December 1834, 3 months old.
On 25 July 1835 disaster struck again, when Albertus Pieter Camphuis died, at the age of 27, after a short-term illness. Kornela was pregnant at the time. She gave birth on 19 October to a son named after his father. Little Albertus Pieter died on 29 December, 2 months old. Kornelia Baars was a 26-year-old widow with 2 small children. She had been married for only 4 years.

Rotterdamsche Courant, 28-7-1835

Two years later, on 9 May 1838, Kornelia Baars was married to widower Daniel Stolk. Daniel was born in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel on 7 Arpil 1796. His parents are Marrigje (den) Boer (1761-1833) en Pieter Stolk (1756-1835). Pieter is a descendant of my ancestor Pieter Stolk (±1657-1741)
Daniel had married his first wife, Anna Boulonois, on 6 June 1821 in Rotterdam, when he was 25 years old. Anna was born on 27-7-1791 in Rotterdam, and died there on 17 July 1829.
Daniel married his second wife, Ingetje de Regt, on 22-12-1830 in Rotterdam. Together they had a son Pieter, a daughter Catharina, and a stillbirth. Ingetje died on 1 September 1836, aged 35 years and 11 months.

Cornelia Baars and Daniel Stolk had 5 children in the period 1838-1848, but they all died young. Cornelia's son Feike Albertus Kamphuis died in 1839, aged 5. In the summer of 1848 her only surviving child was her eldest daughter Adriana Neeltje Camphuis.
On 2 April 1858 Adriana Neeltje Camphuis was married to Lucas Vreugdenhil, a widower with children who was 10 years her senior. In 1860 they were living in de Haarlemmermeer area.
