Businessman Teunis Jabaay was born on 3 May 1891 in Maasdam, Holland. He is a younger son of Maaike Hoogvliet (1851-1937) and Adrianus Jabaaij (1843-1939). Teunis' paternal grandparents were Lijntje Streefkerk (1814-1881) and Leendert Jabaaij (1812-1895). Teunis had an elder brother Willem Jabaaij (1881-1948), who remained single, and some sisters. Teunis seems to have been the only one in the family who wrote his surname as Jabaay.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Marian. Since the marriage took place in Germany (& I have no clue how to find the original German marriage certificate), I based the story on the newspaper clippings.
